Part Three: The Modern Era: The Modernization of the Stargate Network

【Overview of the Era】 The development of the modern stargate network began with postwar restoration. Around the year 905 of the Stargate Calendar, damaged gate structures, sealed branch routes, temporary military gates, and defunct nodes were scattered across the major theaters of war; the first several centuries of transport history were above all an age of repair, diversion, and reconnection.

Improvements over the following millennia overlapped with one another. Gate materials, self-stabilizing structures, node redundancy, Interspace access, gate communications, and intelligent assistance matured at different rates from region to region, while old and new gates continued to share a single network for a very long time.

Modern expansion occurred only in regions that were known, locatable, and willing to maintain a long-term connection. Vast numbers of worlds remained undiscovered, could not be reliably located, or chose to keep their distance; by around the year 12,760, the existence of nearly ten million stargates meant only that the known network had grown immensely vast.
